Explosions in the Sky

just a little helpful hint from your friendly neighborhood trans person

if you’re cis but you’re also queer

you don’t actually know shit about transphobia, not any more than any other cis person. you don’t get a pass. you aren’t some authority.

if you’re cis but you have trans friends

you don’t actually know shit about transphobia any more than any other cis person. especially if you fucking tokenize them to try and prove how progressive and NOT transphobic you are. bc, another helpful hint: tokenizing your trans friends, using them as your props to prove a point about how great you are? that’s transphobic as shit.

tw self harm
I’m sorry for posting this, it’s just I always see pictures on here of girls with flowers drawn around their cuts or pictures of blood in the shape of hearts or people rebloging pictures of scars and saying “I don’t support self harm but for some reason this looks really beautiful” and it really fucking annoys me
self harm is a real problem faced by real people, you may not be meaning to but posts like those mentioned glamorise it and trivialise it and its just not right.
pictures. of. cuts/scars. are. not. cute.

this

exactly omg

i think its tragically beautiful..not the actual cuts the meaning behind them..the way someone can be so said or blame themselves so much they slice their skin, it shows how sad someone can really be. To me these pictures show how serious self harm is…i find that tragically beautiful.

Cultural Appropriation: A conversation by Sanaa Hamid

This body of work is an exploration of the extent of cultural appropriation and encourages a discussion about it. I give the appropriator and the appropriated the opportunity to defend themselves and create a dialogue between them, while maintaining a neutral stance myself. I am not attacking those who appropriate, merely educating and creating awareness. Neutrality is key in this series, as i remove myself from my political and social status and opinions, stripping the problem to the most basic issue; taking an item that means a great deal to somebody and corrupting it.
